When you press the button it makes contact with the matrix and sends the information to the computer to display the letter you pressed or do the action corresponding to the key.Each Keyboard has a Read-Only Memory has a character map which tells the keyboard's processor to when pressing "h" to display "h" and when pressing Shift and h to display capital H.
